Gendered Virtual Assistants

As technology gets smarter and machine learning and Virtual assistants become an integral part of the human experience, we decided to investigate the role of gender politics of artificial intelligence. Virtual assistants and their makers are up against the pressing issue of representation of the genders and the biases it creates.

This interactive data visualisation is a classroom project, a synthesis of our investigation into mobile devices, gender and virtual assistants. It is a representation of the sexual advances made towards virtual assistants and their programmed responses, the portrayal of artificial intelligence in cinema and the gender ratio of people who work to create these systems.
